Thank you to Kristen over at Pete Cashmore's Mashable! blog, coverage of our new Newsletter Edition service. "With the Newsletter Edition, FeedBlitz essentially aims to improve the very purpose of the traditional newsletter by extending the targeting and personalization options of a newsletter to blogs, instant messaging, and more, and doing the reverse for the newsletters themselves." OK, so they don't like the name, but there's no pleasing some people :-) Read the full article here.Labels: FeedBlitz, Mashable

... Over the next couple of weeks FeedBlitz will be integrating the outbrain rating system across all the blogs using its service. Bloggers using FeedBlitz will now have direct feedback from their readers as to how interesting (or not...) each post they publish is. In addition, readers subscribed to FeedBlitz updates will benefit by getting immediate visibility into how interesting each post/article is for each one of them. With the flood of information made available by RSS/email feeds, this is an extremely important feature for users of aggregators like FeedBlitz... Read the complete article. Labels: outbrain

A guest column I wrote on SmallBizTechnology.com called "Why Blog for Your Small Business?" has just gone live on their site. Here's the opening paragraph: What, you, blog? Surely you’re too busy running the business to have time to blog. Feel that you don’t have anything to say? Worried about learning yet another new technology... Read the whole article here.

My thanks to Pete Cashmore for the mention. He says: Feedblitz Tracks Links in Posts - Feedblitz, the RSS service that’s focused on converting RSS feeds to email newsletters, has added “in-post link tracking” today. That means they track clicks on every link in your newsletter, not just when people return to your site by clicking a post title. That includes, of course, links to external sites. Here's the Mashable article (we're the third snippet down). Here's the original post on the new feature.

Smart publishers know the value of analyzing their metrics. Here are some interesting results from the Online Marketing Blog on RSS readers (and an emerging online marketing field called social media optimization). From the article: Also, the FeedBlitz RSS to email service consistently ranks in the top 3. If you’re not offering a RSS to email option for users on your blog, you are missing out on potentially 15-30% of your possible subscribers.

Inside Digital Media: Getting RSS Feeds In Your Email
I was interviewed last week by Phil Leigh, the President of Digital Media, for a podcast on RSS and email. The audio (23 minutes) is available online from the site as an MP3 audio / podcast file, or in Windows Media format. There is apparently a transcript of the interview available as well, for $9.95.

This is the archived audio for my session last week. There is a fee to download the archive. Only 9-12% of people online understand and use RSS feeds thereby making email delivery of blog updates essential if you don't want to miss 80-90% of your potential audience.
In our discussion, we also covered how professionals can use a blog to deliver their newsletter and the myriad ways publishers are using Feedblitz to deliver their messages around the world.

Lee Odden, web marketing and search engine optimization SEO expert, interviewed me recently. You can read just the excerpt or the whole article.
The insights offered in the interview range from how FeedBlitz got started, to how it was marketed to become the top RSS to email service, as well as some interesting ideas on how to use RSS as a marketing vehicle. Hollows also gives these three tips for blog owners that are users or considering use of RSS to email tools... Find out more about Lee Odden here.
